At the End of the Day, This is What Really Matters

Is it enough to only be a good person? Is it enough to only love those who are easy to love? Is it enough to only help those who give us something in return?

At the end of the day, does it really matter we only did just enough to feel good about ourselves?

If we skirt through life taking more than we receive, seeking shortcuts, or putting ourselves before others, then the question to our answer is simple: What really matters is me.

But if we live life outside of our comfort zone and strive to do more than enough, then our answer changes: What really matters is my service unto others.

Ask yourself:

  • Did I serve my family and loved ones by being attentive to their needs?
  • Did I serve my friends and acquaintances by fostering an authentic relationship?
  • Did I serve my employer with good and honest work?
  • Did I serve those who I particularly don’t like by charitably giving them the benefit of the doubt?
  • Did I serve those on the the fringe of society with empathy and not ignorance for their situation?
  • Did I serve my God with a faithful love?
  • Did I serve passer-by’s and strangers with politeness and manners?
