Waking up before the baby
Before my son was born in June, I developed an awesome habit of waking up at 5 AM to work on my creative endeavors. I’d work until about 7 AM when I’d have to start getting ready for work and roll into the office by 8.
But ever since my son entered the world, my morning routine has been wrecked.
Some days this summer I was literally waking up at 7:30 and dashing out the door 15 minutes late. Not my favorite way to start the day.
But now, out of sheer determination, I’m back to waking up early (before my son does) at 5:30 AM. I now get to start the day with a glass of freshly squeezed metaphorically-creative-fruit juice.
I use this time to write. Not emails. Not thank-you cards. Just my thoughts.
Out of these thoughts ideas arise. Out of these ideas, concepts. With these concepts I develop concrete messages to share on my platform.
That, my friend, is the best way to start the day.
