My 39 minute timeline
(Times are in EST)

2:51 pm
I open up Medium to do some light browsing before my 3pm meeting.
2:55 pm
I click on my profile icon to check my stats. The high from hitting 4,000 followers this morning was wearing off and my ego needed a boost.
2:56 pm
As I click through to the stats, something green catches my eye. I click back.
Become a member — that wasn’t there earlier today…
2:57 pm
I click on the link and try to join. No luck, the link didn’t work. I go back, screenshot the good news, and text the only person in the world who I think will be just as excited as me:
Todd Brison

3:03 pm
Meeting officially starts. It’s me and one other person in a tiny conference room. Plus two people on the phone. One person is late.
3:05 pm
Pre-meeting banter.
3:06 pm
Late person joins. I’m beginning to question why I even need to be involved in this meeting.
3:10 pm
Suspicion confirmed, there’s no reason for me to be here. But with only one person in the room I’m stuck.
3:11 pm
I sneak a peak at my phone while the meeting drones on. I still can’t seem to sign up for Medium Membership. I update the app. Still no luck.
3:12 pm
While the app updates, I try my laptop. I find medium.com/membership and scroll to the bottom. Boom, a prompt box asking for my credit card info awaits. Luckily my phone case is also my wallet, so I casually slide my card out of its resting place just enough to see the 16 digits.
3:13 pm
I submit my info and I’m now a proud funding member of my favorite community.

3:30 pm
I’m still stuck in this meeting. Somebody please help me.
